Dr Ashton

Veterinarian

Dr. Ashton Landry is a large and small animal Veterinarian. Growing up in Franklin, LA showing livestock through 4-H inspired her to become a Veterinarian. This journey began while pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Sciences from McNeese State University where her love for large animal medicine grew exponentially. In the summers she would work at Whittington Veterinary Clinicwh as an assistant. Following graduation, she began Veterinary school at LSU as a member of the Class of 2025. She finds joy in life by helping others. Her calling to be a Veterinarian allows her to do that every day. The human-animal bond is a beautiful thing, and something that she been so grateful to endure! Dr. Ashton has had the pleasure of growing up with labradors and love their drive. Her current companion is Miss Finn: a spunky 6 year old female black lab.

Dr. Ashtons professional interests within Veterinary Medicine include surgery, working with ruminants (especially cattle and deer) with focus on neonates, reproduction, and lameness.

Her plan as a Veterinarian is to be able to offer her clients and patients the very best care for any circumstance. By nurturing the human animal bond between clients and patients, “I know we will make a great team!” she says. With her certification in Veterinary acupuncture, she can help animals with pain relief, increase blood flow, anxiety and behavioral issues, recovery from surgery, and decrease inflammation. This modality offers a non-invasive option that combines holistic and traditional Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Ashton is especially passionate about large animal practice, and she is committed to supporting the health and productivity of livestock. “I understand the vital role producers play in the community, and I hope to build strong, collaborative relationships rooted in trust, respect, and shared goals to help producers succeed. Whether assisting with herd health, emergency care, or preventive strategies, I am looking forward to serving Vermilion and surrounding parishes.”

Throughout Veterinary school, she has had the opportunity to travel across the country exploring different aspects of Veterinary Medicine including cow/calf, feedlot medicine, bovine reproduction, deer management and reproduction, equine lameness and reproduction, and equine nutrition at a multitude of veterinary clinics. The choice to come back to WVC was an easy one. To some, she is a familiar face from her time before Veterinary school shadowing Dr. Paul and Dr. Casi. “I am very excited to return in my new role as a Veterinarian and I look forward to reconnecting with familiar faces and new clients as well. My fellow Veterinarians are all like-minded and form a well-rounded and extremely talented team. We each bring something to the table that benefits every patient that walks in the door or into the barn. I am excited to meet all of you!”
