In Loving Memory of Kalix James Broussard
August 15, 2001- January 27, 2020
Forever in our hearts
On the morning of January 27, 2020, our Whittington Veterinary Clinic family suffered an unimaginable loss when our beloved co-worker and friend was tragically taken in a car accident on his way to work. His two beloved dogs were by his side that day as well, a testament to the bond they shared and the deep love he had for animals.
His presence brought light, laughter, and calm to even the busiest of days. As a dedicated large animal assistant, he was always by Dr. Paul's side—caring for patients and supporting the team with quiet strength, steady hands, and genuine kindness. He was a part of our daily rhythm—someone we could always count on, and someone who made work feel like family.
Kalix had recently graduated from Vermilion Catholic, where he proudly wore #16 on the football field.
At the vet clinic, Kalix was among those who loved him dearly, and we know that connection was mutual. The bond we shared as coworkers and friends left a lasting mark on all of us.
We honor Kalix’s memory not only with heavy hearts, but with deep gratitude—for his work, his friendship, and the way he touched each of our lives. In his honor, Dr. Paul established the Kalix James Broussard Memorial Scholarship. Each year, a deserving senior at Vermilion Catholic is awarded this scholarship as a lasting tribute to Kalix’s spirit, character, and the legacy he left behind.
Gone too soon, but never forgotten. We miss you. We remember you. We carry you with us.
