Veterinarian and Owner
Dr. Paul was born and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana. He discovered his passion and love for animals at a very young age. He reconfirmed during his high school years while shadowing at Dr. Clyde Prejean's Veterinary Clinic in Abbeville. With dreams of becoming a veterinarian, he attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette . After receiving a biology degree from ULL, Paul's prayers were answered when he was accepted into the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. After graduating vet school in 2008 he worked as a large breed and cattle vet in the Houma, Raceland, and New Orleans areas of Louisiana.
In April 2009, Dr. Paul purchased the building and assets of Prejean Veterinary Clinic and instituted Whittington Veterinary Clinic. He hired his longtime classmate, friend, and associate Dr. Casi Boudreaux (Alleman) to join him in the practice. Together Dr. Casi, Dr. Paul, and associates have been striving to provide Vermilion and surrounding parishes with top-notch veterinary care from small to large breeds. Communication and compassion are the center of their hearts that differentiates them from other veterinary clinics.
Dr. Paul enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, although due to high demand, has mainly concentrated in large animals. He is passionate toward companion animals, beef cattle and working horses. He aims to educate clients by helping them avoid major health issues with their large animals.
Dr. Paul is married to Leslie Whittington, a dentist and co-owner of Abbeville Family Dental. They reside in Abbeville, Louisiana with their 3 boys Charlie James and Chandler Richard (twins) and their youngest son Christopher Paul "Chip". Dr. Paul's hobbies include hunting, fishing, spending time with his family, and sharing the gospel and love of Jesus with everyone he meets! He enjoys mentoring young students interested in Veterinary medicine and sharing his enthusiasm for helping others better themselves. He is quite active within the Abbeville community, specifically with his church and ACTS groups. Dr. Paul's love for veterinary medicine and all animals is evident through the sincere joy and compassion he shares with people/pet owners. Dr. Paul says he is humbly blessed to provide quality care to your animals!
