Whittington Veterinary Clinic: Rooted in Care Since 2009
Born and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana, Dr. Paul Whittington discovered his passion for animals early in life. That love only grew stronger as he shadowed at Dr. Clyde Prejean’s veterinary clinic here in Abbeville during high school—an experience that inspired him to pursue a lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian.
He earned his degree in Biology from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette before his prayers were answered with acceptance into the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. After graduating in 2008, Dr. Paul gained invaluable experience caring for large animals, especially cattle, in the Houma, Raceland, and New Orleans areas.
In 2009, that journey came full circle when Dr. Paul purchased the very clinic where his dream began—renaming it Whittington Veterinary Clinic. Alongside his longtime friend and classmate Dr. Casi Boudreaux (Alleman), he built a practice rooted in compassion, communication, and trust. Together with their dedicated team, they proudly serve Vermillion Parish and surrounding areas, providing expert care for animals both large and small.
Though large animal medicine has become his primary focus due to high demand, Dr. Paul has a deep love for all creatures—whether they're cherished pets, working horses, or beef cattle. He’s especially passionate about educating clients to prevent health issues before they arise.
Dr. Paul is married to Dr. Leslie Whittington, co-owner of Abbeville Family Dental. They live in Abbeville with their three boys—twins Charlie James and Chandler Richard, and their youngest, Christopher Paul “Chip.” Outside of veterinary medicine, he enjoys hunting, fishing, family time, and sharing the love of Jesus with everyone he meets. He’s an active member of his church and ACTS community and loves mentoring students interested in veterinary medicine.
Dr. Paul feels truly blessed to serve the people and animals of his community. His joy for what he does shines through in every interaction—with a heart full of compassion and hands ready to help, he’s honored to care for your beloved animals.
